“ I’ve been to the Phoenix Botanical Gardens a number of times, and I’m really embarrassed to say that I never even knew Gertrude’s was here, and that I could have an upscale dining experience at such an affordable price point. Our server was awesome, and the Tamales plate was absolutely fire. Everything was so fresh, and the ingredients were thoughtfully combined. I was expecting museum cafeteria and I got fine dining (minus the pomp and circumstance that the rich love to get off to). Forgive my crude comments, y’all, and give Gertrude’s a chance. Enjoy the garden, devour a delicious meal, and impress your significant other with your superior tastes. ”
“ After having taken a leisurely stroll through the Desert Botanic Garden, we decided to have a bite to eat at this on-site restaurant. Wasn’t expecting to find such a great restaurant with the best meal, Hot Mess, recommended by the wonderful server! The atmosphere was delightful, seating choices inside at tables, at the bar or open air seating, covered. Easy access for all. Lots of fun menu choices, none of us were disappointed, quite the opposite! I’ll come again, just to eat here! Prices were very reasonable considering the quality was high and the portions were ample. ”
“ The food is so delicious!! Everything we ate was cooked perfectly and so delicious! Atmosphere is exquisite in the patio surrounded with beautiful plants and trees. They have patio heating that keeps you warm. I had the braised bore it was so delicious the potatoes were delicious and the gravy was amazing. I added some extra shrimp. The house bread and butter was amazing. My girlfriend enjoyed her food. The staff is amazing very knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. ”
“ Absolutely blown away by my experience at Gertrude’s in Arizona! From the moment we arrived, we were mesmerized by the breathtaking outdoor patio, nestled within the stunning botanical gardens. The atmosphere was serene, yet vibrant, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. We kicked off our brunch with the huevos rancheros—flavor-packed and perfectly balanced. The breakfast fried rice was an unexpected delight, with savory, aromatic notes that left us wanting more. The breakfast bowl was a harmonious combination of fresh ingredients, making each bite a true joy. For dessert, the pistachio cheesecake was a dream - smooth, creamy, and decadently nutty. And the cookies and cream was simply out of this world - rich and indulgent, it was the perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic meal. Every dish we tried was absolutely magnificent, leaving us with no doubt that Gertrude’s knows how to do food right. The flavors were nothing short of finger-licking good, and the service was top-notch. If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and experience this gem, it's an absolute must!!!! ”
“ Our food was delish but the atmosphere was better. Definitely get the cauliflower (not pictured). My son’s Sun butter and prickly pear jelly sandwich was so good. The atmosphere was incredible being right at the garden! ”
“ This popular restaurant is nestled close to the entrance to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. The Mexican inspired dishes are made on site – including the mole and tortillas. The kitchen operates on a farm-to-table concept, so the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. Winter time - make sure you sit on the patio to enjoy the lush surroundings. ”
“ I never write reviews but had to come on here express how amazing our experience was. Tonight we celebrated our first wedding anniversary and from the jump, Gertrude’s made us feel so welcome with a handwritten card. The service was wonderful, the scenery was beautiful, and I had the best steak I have ever had in my life! All the food was phenomenal. We will be making this a reoccurring special date night! ”
“ Popped in for a bite before touring the gardens & was so happy we did! The portions are quite large, the food was quick, & the service pleasant. I had a rice noodle bowl with tofu that blew my socks off. I’ll be dreaming of that meal for a while ”
